
The Bear Creek Folk Festival took over Muskoseepi Park Aug. 14-16, showcasing songwriters, musicians and performers from across Canada and around the world and offering a little something for everyone.
Tenille Townes headlined the Friday night performances but returned to the smaller stage Saturday morning for a smaller set with the Slocan Ramblers and others.
Every Gen-Xers childhood hero Fred Penner drew a huge, and participatory crowd on Stage 2 Sunday afternoon. Nikki ‘D’ & The Sisters of Thunder brought the soul and brought the crowd alive. Toronto-based roots, folk and R&B artist Julian Taylor brought his velvet voice and storytelling to the stage. The Trews played a special acoustic set on the main stage Saturday afternoon. Juno-winner Shannon Johnson of the McDades tries to keep up with Jaz Collete, bass player for Blue Moon Marquee, during a Sunday workshop. Canadian music legends Tom Cochrane and Red Rider rocked the main stage on Saturday night.
