Remembrance Day services

The time has come to don the poppy once again. A host of ceremonies to mark Remembrance Day are being planned for this week.

Nov. 8
Indigenous Veterans Day
10:30 a.m.
Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre
Gathering at 10 a.m., ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments to follow.

Daniel Franklin Rycroft: A Story of Survival
1:30 p.m.
Grande Prairie Museum
Peace Country Historical Society (PCHS) will share the story of Spirit River's Daniel Rycroft. Light refreshments to follow.

Remembrance Day, Nov. 11
Grande Prairie Legion  
10:45 a.m.
Bonnetts Energy Centre
Doors open at 9:45 a.m. Service begins at 10:45 a.m.

ANAVETS  
10:45 a.m.
Jubilee Park
Parade leaves Trinity Lutheran Church at 10:45 a.m. and marches to the cenotaph and then back to the church after the ceremony. A luncheon follows at 10203 106 Ave.

Beaverlodge  
10:50 a.m.
Beaverlodge Community Centre
Parade starting at the Beaverlodge Elementary School leaves at 10:30 a.m.

Sexsmith  
10-12 p.m.
Sexsmith Civic Centre
A light lunch to be hosted after.

Wembley  
10:47 a.m.
Wembley Town Office
Procession to start at the Wembley Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. Ceremony to begin at cenotaph at town office at 10:47 a.m. Refreshments available at the fire hall.

Hythe  
10:45 a.m.
Hythe Legion
Service at 10:45 a.m. followed by lunch and fellowship.

Spirit River  
10:30 a.m.
Centennial Hall
A procession will begin from the Brownlee Building at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments to follow.

Nov. 12
Rycroft 
3:30 p.m.
Rycroft Community Library
A craft, a story and a snack to honour and remember fallen soldiers.
